Harrods is set to kick off its next series of pop-ups with luxury Scottish cuisine from its chef of the season, Tom Kitchin.
The Kitchin at Harrods will be the first pop-up from the chef, and follows the success of his Michelin-starred The Kitchin in Edinburgh. The launch is well-timed for November’s inevitable cold snap too, with hearty highland food making for an ideal way to see off a blustery evening.
The pop-up will be open for just a week, but there’ll be heaps of Scottish flavours to sample. Provenance is very much the name of the game here, and the menu takes every opportunity to highlight the origin of the ingredients: the scallops, served in the shell with port jelly, are hand-dived from Orkney, while the yoghurt panna cotta hails from Knockraich Farm. There’ll also roasted loin of roe deer with root veg, traditional smokey Cullen skink, and the less-traditional but equally delicious-sounding East Lothian sea buckthorn consomme.
“We are so passionate about the incredible produce we have access to in Scotland,” said Tom. “I’m thrilled to be bringing a taste of our land and sea to the heart of London.”
The food will be served in Harrod’s plush conservatory, at The Georgian on the fourth floor of the luxury shopping department store.
But that's not all - as you'll be able to pick up his dishes from the Harrod's Food Hall too. And with late November heralding the inevitable start of Christmas, you’ll also be able to tuck into more festive dishes like rolled roast turkey, or ham with mustard and honey. If you’re in more of a seafood mood, there’ll be roasted turbot with brown shrimp, or the intriguing smoked salmon lasagne. We’re also particularly interested in the desserts, which sound rich and thickly satisfying, and include a whiskey trifle, and a coffee Yer Ben ale pudding made with the chef’s own homebrew.
The Kitchin at Harrods runs from 14 November - 20 November on the fourth floor of Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Rd, London SW1X 7XL. It’ll be open for one lunch sitting, and two dinner sittings. The three-course set lunch is £55, while the eight-course tasting menu is £90. You can book by calling 020 7225 6800. Follow The Kitchin on Twitter @thekitchin and Harrods @Harrods.
