Grace Dent and Skye Gyngell line up for Women in Food

toastThe team behind the Shoreditch summer food festival Toast have regrouped to put on a series of events called Women in Food this November. The aim is to celebrate the achievements of, as well as challenge preconceptions about, women's role in the world of food and wine.

The three part series takes place on 7, 13 and 21 November at Bermondsey's Hide Gallery. Women in Wine on 7 November is a discussion led by Saturday Brunch’s Rebecca Seal with a panel including the Sunday Times wine writer Kate Spicer and head wine buyer for the Hakkasan Group, Christine Parkinson. The second session is Women In Restaurants on 13 November. Moderated by Conde Naste Traveller’s Sophie Dening, the panel includes Skye Gyngell and Niamh Scott, bar manager at Hawksmoor Guildhall. And finally on 21 November is Women In Media where panellists including ES Magazine’s resident restaurant critic Grace Dent, The Telegraph’s Bee Wilson and the Guardian’s Felicity Cloake will discuss what it’s like for a woman working in today’s media with Norwegian chef and author, Signe Johansen as chair.

Tickets are on sale at www.toastfestival.com. Each event takes place between 7-9pm. Tickets cost £15 per event and £35 for all three which includes post-panel drinks from Nyetimber and Scandinavian canapés from Signe Johansen.
