Gizzi Erskine hosts K-town pop-up in Shoreditch basement

Gizzi Erskine hosts K-town pop-up in Shoreditch basementChef and food writer Gizzi Erskine has announced a series of 'K-town' dining events at Concrete, Shoreditch, from 10th -12th October. Held across three consecutive nights, K-town will see a bit of Korea injected into Shoreditch, with a selection of Korean entertainment, curated by Gizzi herself which promises to keep diners engaged until the early hours of the morning.

Gizzi, an experienced chef, cites her travels and love of Asian food as key inspirations for the pop-up. 'In South East Asia, I learned how to cook in an environment where fish sauce and tamarind were much a staple as salt and pepper.' Gizzi fell in love with Korean food after discovering it in New York and Korea Town, downtown Los Angeles from where the K-town moniker is drawn. A self confessed fan of David Chang, Gizzi isn't shy in announcing the New York chef as a key influence, 'I love his unapologetically delicious, intelligent and witty food that he serves at his restaurants.'

The five course menu at K-town is designed for sharing and will include dishes such as bo ssam, crispy tuna rice, Korean fried chicken, pork buns made by Yum Bun and a selection of Korean sashimi with sides of goachujang and ponzu.

Drinks are 'unashamedly Asian' and feature a welcome sake cocktail and a selection of Asian beers and spirits. The entertainment changes daily and will feature everything from Rockabilly bands and special guest DJs to Korean drag queens. Ping pong tables and ‘K-Pop karaoke’ are also available for guests who want an authentic Korean experience.

Tickets dinner and entertainment are now waiting-list only, however there are tickets available for visitors to swing past, grab a drink and enjoy the entertainment. Priced at £10, these allow entry from 10pm available here.
