American website Daily Meal has just released its list of the Top 35 airport restaurants around the world. We thought it might make interesting reading, particularly given the news a few weeks ago that Heathrow's Terminal 3 would be getting a Heston Blumenthal restaurant next year.
But then we looked at the list. At first glance, Britain doesn't fare too badly with three in the top 20 - but seriously, Giraffe at Heathrow is at no 18? According to the website it "has something for every traveler, including nachos, burgers, salads, and sandwiches, as well as smoothies and gourmet coffees and teas." And Giraffe made the list by dint of a team of Daily Meal reviewers and food and travel 'experts' who "evaluated each restaurant’s cuisine and only included the restaurants that were deemed to be extraordinary."
If you're at all interested after that, you might wish to know that Jamie Oliver's Union Jack's at Gatwick was just behind Giraffe at no.19 on the list while Gordon Ramsay's Plane Food at Heathrow's Terminal 5 was the UK's highest entry at No 12.
