Galvin La Chapelle is Tatler's Best Restaurant 2010

There were some interesting results at last night’s Tatler Laurent-Perrier & Taste of London Restaurant Awards 2010.

While Best Kitchen for Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley wasn’t a real surprise, perhaps the magazine’s choice of It Room – the Brompton Bar and Grill – and Restaurateur of the Year, which went to Ben and Hugo (better known as Benugo) for the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen was an unusual choice as was Best Newcomer for Kitchen W8 rather than Hix Soho, Galvin La Chapelle or even Polpo. Although Hot Dinners was most taken aback by the inclusion of the Oxo Tower as a runner-up in the Consistently Excellent section.

Certainly it was a good night for Chris and Jeff Galvin who picked up the top prize of Restaurant of the Year for Galvin La Chapelle, as well as scoring runners-up positions for It Room, the afore-mentioned Best Newcomer slot and Restaurateur of the Year.

Special mentions went to Stephen Williams of The Harwood Arms who won the Taste of London best newcomer of the year and Terence Conran who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award.
