Galley hits Islington's Upper Street with ex Randall & Aubin head chef

The revitalisation of Islington's dining scene continues apace with news of another interesting restaurant opening on Upper Street. Galley restaurant and bar takes over the space occupied by United Ramen and is a venture by brother and sister team Oriona Robb and Marcel Grzyb.

Marcel's been Head Chef at Soho’s Randall & Aubin for a decade and, as you might expect given his background, he's put together a menu with a strong focus on seafood.

His sister Oriona is a stylist so she's taken on the look of the restaurant, giving it an open kitchen and separate bar.

The menu sounds pretty good to us:

  • Hand dived in-shell Scottish scallops with carrot, cardamom puree and toasted hazelnuts Yellowfin tuna tartare with mango, avocado, wasabi nori crisps, teriyaki
  • Lobster pappardelle, heritage tomatoes, Jerusalem artichokes
  • Scottish venison, smoked potato puree, braised cabbage and thyme gravy
  • There'll also be oysters, two seafood platters - one hot, one cold - and desserts like Salted caramel tart, green tea ice-cream, chilli & hazelnut praline.

At the weekends they'll be doing brunch with Duck Benedict on toasted sourdough and Red mullet and crab brioche with mango chilli chutney.

Galley opens 2 February at 105-106 Upper Street, Islington N1 1QN. It'll be on soft launch from Friday 29th of January to Sunday 31st of January at lunch and dinner with 50% off food only. To book call the restaurant on 020 3670 0740. Keep up with their news on Twitter @Galleylondon
