This August, for one week only, Michelin-starred chefs Atul Kochhar and Galton Blackiston (of Norfolk's Morston Hall) are teaming up with Something for the Weekend’s Simon Rimmer to lend their culinary skills to the opening of the world’s first frozen gourmet restaurant, N-Ice.
The British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) set up the pop-up with the aim to celebrate fresh and natural frozen food free from all the negative connotations it's often associated with.
N-Ice, pronounced ‘en-ice’, will be a pop-up restaurant in London’s plush Vincent Square in Westminster, where each meal will be cooked from scratch using only frozen ingredients. From frozen chopped onions and herbs to a range of meats, all dishes will come from the icebox. The menu will include signature dishes from the three celebrity chefs including Kochhar’s much talked about Kashmiri Lamb Curry, a diner favourite from the menu at his Benares restaurant in London’s Mayfair.
Service will be run by lecturers and up-and-coming chefs from Westminster Kingsway College and they're asking for a minimum donation of £10 for a three course meal (bargain!) and £10 for a bottle of wine.
A frosty welcome can be expected with the restaurants planned ‘Ice Palace’ decor consisting of frozen trees, sculptures and snowflake table dressing.
N-Ice pops up on the 8th through till the 12th August from 12-2pm each day at 76 Vincent Square, SW1. For reservations contact 020 7802 8391 or restaurant@westking.ac.uk
