With the likes of Her Majesty taking tea there you may be forgiven for thinking Fortnum & Mason to be a very rarefied type of place. But we hear there's a new dish on the menu there that has much more proletarian roots. The Piccadilly store's Gallery restaurant will this week be serving up a special dish of Roasted Fillet of Cod served with a Chorizo and Heinz Baked Bean Casserole. Yes, you read that right - Heinz Baked Beans at Fortnums. The dish runs from this week through to 6th June 2012 and it's a tie-in to the Jubilee and the fact that way back in 1886, Fortnums showed distinct foresight in buying up the entire stock of five cases of H. J. Heinz's beans for their store. And don't you just love this picture? There'll be vintage labelled cans of Heinz beans on sale in the store from 1 May - but happily their sell-by-date will be this century.
