Fat Duck chefs killed in Hong Kong car accident

News is breaking that two chefs from Heston Blumenthal's restaurant The Fat Duck have been killed whilst in Hong Kong.

The chefs whose names haven't been confirmed by the restaurant or the BBC were named by trade title Caterer News as Ivan Aranto Herrera Jorge and Carl Magnus Lindgren. The two chefs were believed to have been involved in a collision between their taxi and two buses. Their taxi driver was also killed in the accident.

The Fat Duck this afternoon issued a short statement saying: "We can confirm that two members of Heston Blumenthal's culinary team were tragically killed in a car accident in Hong Kong.

"They were both senior members and great and dear friends. Two uniquely talented young chefs that were loved by everyone who worked with them. They will be sadly and deeply missed."

Many chefs and restaurants have taken to Twitter to express their shock at the news with chef Simon Hulstone tweeting; "Terrible terrible news...thoughts with the family and staff at The Fat Duck." "Such sad news," added Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons.

Hot Dinners would like to express our own condolences for the two chefs' families.
