There are many items for sale which the merest whiff of association with a celebrity chef can help shift - books, saucepans, stock cubes, to name just a few. However its seems as though London property is not one of them.
Back in May last year a house, previously owned by one Jamie Oliver (see picture), went on the market. Described as 'a stunning architect-designed house' with a flash-looking kitchen, the Islington pad was priced at a punchy £1,195,000. Eight months later, the house is still languishing on the market and has had nearly £100k knocked off the asking price. Carlton Estate Agents in Islington are now asking a cool £1.1m for the house.
Perhaps the fact that this isn't the pukka pad in Clerkenwell where Jamie used to slide down the bannisters before zipping off on his moped in The Naked Chef is stopping anyone from stumping up just over a million quid for a three bed house with no front garden. Who can tell?
If you don't fancy Jamie's old stomping ground, how about heading south of the river where Marcus Wareing's family home is on the market? Wareing's massive Wandsworth family house went up for sale for £2.1m back in October. But, it's a similar story here as the lure of living in the house that a chef owned doesn't seem to be helping. Four months on, it's still for sale with Savills.
