Ex Zucca and Hartnett chef joins Southwark's The Table

the table cafeThere's a longstanding relationship between architect firms and restaurants here in London. The Dock Kitchen is below Tom Dixon's shop, Rochelle Canteen numbers architects in its studios and The River Cafe started life as the canteen for Ruth Rogers' husband Richard's architect company.

The Table over in Southwark, which is co-owned by partners at the architectural practice Allies & Morrison, is probably less well known but the arrival of new chef should change all that.

Head chef, Cinzia Ghignoni came to Southwark Street via Duck Soup, Zucca and Angela Hartnett. She's introduced a new menu of modern Italian food. So expect starters like N'duja toast with roast Tropea onions or Friggitelli and sheep's milk ricotta and mains of English rose veal paillard, Girolles and scorzone black truffle or Pappardelle with crab, broad beans and samphire.

There's also a new style of wine list, created by wine writer/blogger Matt Walls.

The Table is at 83 Southwark Street, London SE1 0HX. For more information see their website thetablecafe.com
