El Bulli will still serve food when it reopens in 2014

It was already the hardest restaurant in the world to get a table at, now Ferran Adria has revealed a new exquisite variation to the torture. In a press release put out by El Bulli today, Adria has confirmed that El Bulli will reopen as a non-profit-making foundation in 2014. The building will be refitted and 20-25 scholarships offered to chefs and front of house staff. However, offering a ray of hope to anyone who was still hoping to book a table there, the dining room will remain the same.

He goes on to give a few tantalising details about how mere mortals might still be able to eat at El Bulli; ‘The gastronomic creations, the fruit of the works executed by the cooking team of the Foundation, will be able to be tasted every year starting in 2014, during a certain time and by a certain number of clients,’ he said. ‘We can’t be specific as of now in this matter as we are currently studying the most adequate model for this new operative.’

Goodness knows how you’ll get on that list of ‘clients’. Ferran goes on to say he needs time to reflect on all aspects of what the Foundation will mean for El Bulli, adding; ‘until we haven’t advanced more and in a substantial way in this process, and taken new relevant decisions regarding the format of this Foundation, we will not give any more information regarding this matter.’

No, we're not quite sure what that means either.
