There’s stealth openings and then there’s uber-stealth openings. This week a massive new development opens just off Piccadilly with almost no advance word. Dstrkt is a £25 million restaurant, bar and club space which – despite having a name that reminds us of The Onion story about Clinton deploying vowels to to Bosnia – looks set to be A Big Opening.
Dstrkt is the brainchild of a new partnership between the chaps behind Whisky Mist and Mahiki and the founders of the Buddha Bar & Restaurant in Vienna. Food-wise, the restaurant will be run by American chef George Yaneff and serve up an “all-organic blend of Continental cuisines”. Yaneff comes to Dstrkt having been sous chef for 18 months at top LA restaurant Bazaar. Bazaar is run by Jose Andre who was recently named Outstanding Chef in this year’s James Beard Foundation awards in America.
It opens on Thursday 15 December 2011 at 9 Rupert St, W1. For more information go to www.dstrkt-london.com
