The George & Dragon in Acton, an Acton mainstay that hails from the 17th century, is completely revamping what used to be its dining room into a microbrewery and the menu's getting an overhaul too.
5 things you need to know about Dragonfly
1. Who's looking after the beer? The Master Brewer is Conor Donoghue who was previously Head Brewer at The Lamb Brewery in Chiswick and The Botanist in Kew.
2. What drink will they be serving? They'll be producing 1200 Litres of cask and kegged beer per brew, and will be introducing niche and seasonal brews, such as a fruit beer and a golden ale for the summer. They'll be launching with four beers at around £4, including 2 O’Clock Ordinary ("A rich, deep bitter with an amber colour and a crisp British hop aroma") and Achtung! ("A Bavarian style wheat beer with flavours of banana and clove")
3. And what about food? They'll be bringing in bar snacks designed to match the beers and they do sound very enticing. They include black pudding fritters with beetroot ketchup, salmon & salt cod fishcakes with chipotle aioli, beer fondue with garlic soldiers and sweet potato with pulled pork hash. They'll be £4 each or 3 for £10 - with larger dishes available too.
4. Where is it? The George & Dragon, 183 High Street, London W3 9DJ
5. And when is it opening? 16 May 2014.
