The so-called underground house evangelist (yes we had to look him up and that's how the Guardian described him) DJ James Priestley is launching a pizza bar at his Shoreditch music and arts venue CAMP this month. Meter Bar & Eatery gets its name from the meter-long slices of pizza that it'll serve up.
Aiming to offer "a slice of Naples in urban Shoreditch" James travelled to the home of pizza, Naples, to find his chef. Valentino looks to have a pretty good background in the art of good pizza making. He apparently worked in the pizzeria next door to where he was bought up in city.
The pizzas at Meter, will be cooked in wood-burning ovens and identified by numbers; ‘Uno’ being tomato, mozzarella and basil flavour whilst ‘Due’ is tomato, anchovies, capers, olives and garlic and so on. There'll also be a small selection of antipasti on offer and some Italian desserts such as affogato and tiramisu.
Meter opens on Tuesday 21 March 2012 at 70 – 74 City Rd, London, EC1Y 2BJ.
