Updated 1/2/16 with soft launch details
The Newman Street Tavern is no more - but there's another restaurant taking its place at the end of the month - Dickie Fitz (Fitz for Fitzrovia - we're not sure where the inspiration for the rest of the name comes from). It's from the same people behind the former Tavern and who also run the Lady Ottoline.
It will continue to be an all-day affair and this time the menu will be inspired by dishes of the Pacific - as well as having a weekend brunch that's Australian inspired. The menu's being pulled together by Matt Robinson, the Exec chef of the group and it promises:
- Steamed barramundi with dashi roast cabbage and Daikion
- Lamingtons (that's a type of Aussie cake)
- Chicken schnitzel sandwiches
- Oysters kilpatrick
- Whole sucking pig shoulder to share with five-spiced pumpkin
As for the drinks, expect of Asian-inspired cocktails and a wine list that's heavy on the New World.
Dickie Fitz opens at 48 Newman St, London W1T 1QQ on 25 February 2016. They'll be running a soft launch offer with 50% off food for lunch and dinner on 18 Feb, breakfast, lunch and dinner from 19-23 Feb and breakfast only on 24 Feb, for both walk-ins and direct bookings via reservations@dickiefitz.co.uk.For more, follow them on Twitter @Dickie_Fitz
