[Updated 29 November 2011] Pizarro will open on Monday 5 December 2011.
José Pizarro's tiny tapas place in Bermondsey, José, already has a huge following but if there's one thing that irks, it's not being able to get a seat. Thankfully, the Spanish chef is about to open a new and bigger restaurant called Pizarro just down the road from José.
Pizarro, which is also on Bermondsey Street will have 40 covers, including booths and a private dining room which will seat up to 12 people. Dishes will be bigger than the tapas-style fare at José so you can expect things like Lobster Caldereta, Partridge Escabeche and Rack of Lamb with Black olives and Potatoes. They'll also be supersizing some of the dishes trialed at José – such as Lentils with Chorizo and Scrambled Egg.
If you don't want to make a big meal of it, there'll also be a marble bar and communal table at the front of the restaurant to enjoy a glass of wine and some smaller dishes to share.
Just as José makes a big deal of its sherry selection, Pizarro will go big on cavas with an extensive list. There will also be special food and wine matching menus available in the private dining room.
Pizarro will open at 194 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3TQ. Opening times will be 12 – 3 p.m. then 6 – 11 p.m.
