Covent Garden's Opera Quarter continues its food boom with another new restaurant opening up this month. Condesa is a tapas bar opening on Maiden Lane later this month from the people behind Barrio in Battersea. They say they're offering a young, sexy take on the classic tapas bar.
In practice, that means they'll have a mixture of various Latin dishes on the menu - bread with chipotle alioli starts at £3, there's daily-changing ceviche for between £5-£7, spicy Mexican tostadas, and jamon Iberico. So expect mackerel chipotle tostada, Pibil pulled pork sliders (£5) and Chorizo Iberico quesadilla. In the morning they'll have Madrid-style bocatas and Hasbean coffee. And there's a selection of Spanish and and Latin American wines, beers, sherries and cavas to go with that.
As with so many other London places at the moment, it has a general no-booking policy, but larger groups can reserve the big table in the back.
Condesa will be open Monday to Sunday 11am - 11pm.
