Just opened at King's Cross and hitting the hotdog and doughnut trend square on is Coffee Dogs. It's the brainchild of the folk behind Fine Burger Co and you'll find it wrapped around a ventilation shaft on the station's Southern Square.
The Norman Rockwell-styled cafe will be open seven days a week serving up quality dogs, burgers, donuts, concretes and coffee.
The team undertook rigorous research including an epic trip to Chicago which, in their own words, involved "two men, five days, six nights, 42 food joints which comprised – more or less – of 27 hot dog stands, two heavy metal burger restaurants, four coffee shops, three frozen custard shops, two donut stores, a Chicago deep pan pizza restaurant, two sporting arenas and one conference centre."
The resulting menu back in London features five dogs priced from £4 for a basic Frank to £5.50 for the Southern Square Polish - Smoked pork & beef sausage with onions & mustard. There are also three burgers on offer and sides of skin-on or garlic butter fries.
Commuters with a sweet tooth are well catered for with a range of frozen custards and donuts. There are four regular flavours of concretes including the Kings Cross - chocolate & vanilla frozen custard with Oreos, cookie dough, pecan nuts and toffee sauce, with weekly specials to come. Donuts and cronuts are supplied by BoxPark's Dum Dum’s Donutterie.
Coffee has been specially blended for the store by Falcon Speciality Green Coffee Importers from a selection of beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance farms in Central and South America.
