Clutch guilt-free chicken shop opens off Columbia Road

clutchSeems like the growth of chicken restaurants in London isn't slowing any time soon. Now a new one is destined to open just off Columbia Road before Christmas. Clutch bills itself as a guilt-free fried chicken restaurant and sources all its produce from a small free-range farm in Withshire, using eggs produced in clutches with all the eggs laid at a single time (hence the name).

We took at a look at the menu on which no bird-related pun has been left unpenned. Weekend brunch dishes include Clutch it up - chilli scrambled eggs with halloumi, roast tomato and guacamole (£7.50) and Bend it like Benedict - poached eggs with turkey bacon and Hollandaise saudce (£6.50), For dinner there's rotisserie chicken, half bucket and buckets of peppery buttermilk, sweet soy and garlic or peanut and chilli crust chicken (£11/£21). A range of sides include lime leaf salad, twice fried fries in peanut oil and baby beets with parsley and pistachio pesto and torn mozzarella.

Drinks (or clutchtails) all at £9 include The Sour Grouse (Famous Grouse, lemon, sugar egg white and bitters) and a Cackling Goose Cosmo made with Grey Goose vodka and apricot jam.

Clutch will open in December at 4 Ravenscroft Street, London E2 7QG. Brunch is served 11am -3pm Sat and 9am-3pm Sunday. Opening hours will be Mon–Thur 11am–11:30pm; Fri–Sat 11am–12:30pm and Sun 9am–12am. Find out more by following them on Twitter.
