Opening next week on Hanover Square is Cafe Kaizen. Taking over the space formerly occupied by Jalouse nightclub, they're billing it as a new concept for Mayfair, bringing East London's energy into the West End and tying it in with some New York-style cocktail culture and Japanese food.
Open from 3pm to 3am, there's an indoor marketplace for bright young designers, a cafe & juice bar, cocktail lounge, and a night club. It's the new venture by Jin Nilsson - former marketing director at Whisky Mist. Food-wise there'll be a short menu of dim sum, sashimi and gluten-free cakes, macarons and dessert shots. Bao buns, dumplings, rolls and gyoza will be £4 and there'll be salmon, tuna, yellow fin tuna and sea bass sashimi at £5.
"Please don’t think ‘themed’ and be expecting waiting staff in Samurai outfits," says Jin. "We're mixing a little industrial NYC cool with Japanese art and flavours."
Cafe Kaizen opens 14 July at 17 Hanover Square, London W1S 1HU. Keep up with their news on Twitter @cafekaizen
