Yes, it's another burger joint. But Burgers@N8, coming soon to Crouch End, is a burger joint with a conscience. It won't just be selling hand-crafted beef patties in artisan buns, but will also support local youth projects and charities, as well as providing a hub for families and the community.
The pair behind the venture, Ali Mehmet and Bob Stamega have recruited young local chef Maximilian Aynsley-Rigden to take charge of the state-of-the art new kitchen. They'll be sourcing all their ingredients from local suppliers, including Dunns Bakery and the the Haelen Centre organic food store - while at least 10% of sales will be donated to the area's charities and community initiatives.
That cash will be going to some great causes: like Accumul8, which helps homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people develop new skills to help them into the job market, or an outreach scheme designed to help unemployed young people begin careers in catering.
Ali Mehmet says they couldn't believe Crouch End was missing out on the whole burger trend. "We're both extremely passionate about the area", he said, "so we wanted the restaurant to give it a boost and become a vibrant hub for our friendly, diverse and incredibly talented community."
