Curiouser and curiouser - no sooner does the Zetter Hotel in Clerkenwell roundly deny this week's Times exclusive that Bruno Loubet is to open a restaurant there, than someone close to Bruno throws the whole thing open for frenzied speculation again.
The Times first speculated on the 2nd November that former Raymond Blanc man Bruno Loubet would be taking over the restaurant at the Zetter. But when trade title Caterer Search tracked down a spokesperson at the hotel today to comment on the story, the marketing manager told them 'I have no idea where this story has come from.'
That would normally be that, until eagle-eyed Hot Dinners spotted an exchange on Twitter between Henry Leon of fast-food chain Leon and Bruno’s wife Catherine. ‘I see that the news of Zetter leaked out. Very exciting. Shall we have dinner on the roof top. the four of us?’ tweeted Leon to Catherine Loubet who replied: ‘A bit premature but guess could not be helped.’ Now that doesn’t sound like a categorical denial to us...
