Brazilian restaurant Galeto opening on Dean Street

GaletoAnother restaurant is joining the throng at Dean Street this week, as Galeto throws open its doors

Galeto is aiming to be a Brazilian "streatery" - which means they're mixing Brazilian street food with beers and cocktails. Galeto apparently means "little chicken" which is the focus of its signature dish, a 24 hour marinated 1/2 chicken, served with "super fries" and dip (£8.90). Alongside the chicken, there will be "Picanha" - flash grilled Brazilian "rump cup" steaks and rump steak burgers. Starters include coxinhas de frango (potato dough filled with shredded chicken) and coracao (marinated chicken hearts, farafo and vinigarette).

For dessert, there's pave de Limao (layers of cookies topped with cream and limes) and banana frita (sliced banana pan fried in orange and lime with vanilla ice cream). Drinks include caipirinhas and caipiroskas at £6 each, a small selection of South American wine and Brahma and Palma Louca beer.

The restaurant seats 70, will be furnished vintage and reclaimed furniture and the street art of Brazilian graffiti artist Milo Tchais - all with a background of "Brazilian samba beats and rhythms".

The people behind the restaurant is Leo Alexander (best known for Kettners, Pizza Express and Cream) and former Pizza Express Executive Chef Antonio Romani who met his wife in Brazil and "can’t wait to bring her amazing Brazilian dishes to the heart of Soho."

Galeto opens on May 31 at 33 Dean Street. Follow them on twitter @GaletoUK.
