Bernardi's brings Italian cooking to Marylebone's Seymour Street

Marylebone is getting a rather large new Italian restaurant and it sounds like it'll be fun. Bernardi’s is set to open on a corner site by the intersection of Seymour Place and Seymour Street where Maroush II once was. Set over two levels the venue will serve up lunch, cicchetti, dinner and evening cocktails with a breakfast/brunch offering planned for weekends.

The ground floor space will offer a casual Italian menu alongside Italian cocktails, wines, Proseccos and beers. There'll be seating for 80 diners not to mention space outside for alfresco dining in the summer. The downstairs room will have space for 40 people in what they call "a relaxed but sophisticated living room styled interior." and will look out on to a courtyard space.

The chaps behind the restaurant are Gabriel and Marcello Bernardi. They originally hail from Melbourne but have been involved in the London restaurant scene for the past decade helping found the Cubitt House group (Grazing Goat, Pantechnicon Rooms et al). And they've put together an interesting team. Front of house will be Zoe Charlton-Brown who you may know from Cafe Murano in St James and in the kitchen they've got Head Chef Sabrina Gidda, a two-time Roux Scholarship finalist. 

Dishes on Sabrina's modern Italian menu could include:

  • Rose veal tonnato, parsley, red onion & caper salad (£9)
  • White peaches, burrata, almonds & basil (£9.50);
  • Tarragon gnocchi, rabbit ragu, broad beans & pancetta (£9/£16.50)
  • Salted cod, white polenta, peperonata & sorrel (£19), Duck, cime de rapa, pistachios (£19)
  • Pizzettes of veal sausage, sage & chilli; and potato, scamorza & red onion

Bernardi's will open 23 September 2015 at 62 Seymour Street, London W1H 5BN. They'll be running a soft launch the week before from 17-20 September offering 50% off the food bill. Thursday 17 and Friday 18 will be lunch and dinner, Saturday 19 will be lunch and brunch and Sunday 20 September will be lunch, brunch and dinner.
