9/9/14 - updated with launch date and menu details
This September, boutique hotel Artist Residence (already in Brighton and Penzance) is coming to London.
It'll be in Pimlico, a short walk from Victoria and they'll be bringing Brighton's 64 Degrees with them as the hotel's restaurant. The small plates restaurant has been getting rave reviews down there, so it should get a great reception in London too.
What you need to know about 64 Degrees at Artist Residence
The original is a big hit in Brighton and Marina O'Loughlin raved about it. The chef behind that, Michael Bremner, is bringing the same concept to London. It was recently placed at No 36 in National Restaurant Awards.
It'll be a small plates based restaurant with a daily changing menu. We've now had a look at the final menu (see the full details in the gallery below) and a few of the dishes on offer will be:
- Pig cheek, walnut, mushroom ketchup (£5)
- Lardo, watermelon, smoked mozzarella (£6.50)
- Mackerel, whey, avocado, cracker (£6)
- Artichoke, purple potato, almond (£6.50)
- Potato knödel, cabbage, smoked butter (£6)
- Lobster dumpling, black cabbage, truffle (£3 each)
There's a focus on counter dining. We can't get enough of counter dining, so this pleases us greatly. As it's part of the hotel, they'll also be serving breakfast here.
The hotel itself is very compact and boutique. It has just ten bedrooms with two suites and eight individually designed 'House Rooms'. They're going for an eclectic approach, so that means reclaimed floor boards, vintage furniture and armchairs upholstered in "sumptuous fabrics".
And there's a space for drinks too. The hotel will have a "relaxed and intimate cocktail lounge with a light-filled view out over an adjoining garden".
Where is it? 52 Cambridge Street, London SW1V 4QQ
And when does it open? 5 September.
