North London steakhouse Garufa in Highbury (recently mentioned in our Best Neighbourhood Restaurants in North London feature) is expanding with a second restaurant, this time in central London. They've brought in a new Executive Chef Ernesto Paiva to head up the kitchen there.
Garufin, which will open in October on Lambs Conduit Passage, will be an "Argentine kitchen" specialising in regional Argentine food and wine. As you might imagine, that means the menu will have a definite meat bent with steaks from grass-fed, prime Argentine meat in dishes such as Lomo con Mazamorra Salada (fillet steak, bone marrow and smoked cracked white corn cream) alongside other regional specialties including ‘Albondiga de Niandu’ (ostrich meatballs) from Patagonia and ‘Empanda de Mondongo’ (tripe, ox cheek and chilli empanada) from Noroeste.
To drink there'll be plenty of wines from Argentina - and the enomatic wine machine will mean lots to choose from by the glass and carafe.
Split onto two floors, the restaurant will have room for 20 on the ground floor and 40 in the downstairs dining room.
Garufin will open around mid-October at 8b Lambs Conduit Passage, Holborn, WC1R 4RH. For more information follow them @Garufin_London
