Where does one of the UK's top pizza chefs choose to eat Italian in London?
hot-dinners.com headed for Holborn last week where we did a test-run of Pizza Express's low-call Leggera pizzas (yes, we know it's a tough job, but someone has to do it). Whilst there, we found out the answer to the above question, by grabbing a word with the pizza chain's head chef Antonio Romani.
'I go to a lot of Italian restaurants in London,' Antonio told us, whilst treating a proferred glass of water with the disdain it deserved -sending the poor waiter off in search of red wine, 'and my preferred restaurant is called Timo, which means Thyme and is in High Street Kensington. It has an Italian chef, Italian waiters, Italian manager, Italian director and Italian owner – that’s the best Italian, though not a pizzeria obviously.'
'I like Assaggi,' he added, 'and Locanda Locatelli. I don’t go in there too often because it’s quite pricey but it’s fantastic food.'
