Angler and 3 South Place restaurants opening up in Moorgate

Update 3/9/12 - South Place is now open, with a 50% off food offer for the first week. See them on twitter.com/southplacehotel for more details.

Hard on the heels of the opening of Sushisamba and its terraces high on the 38th and 39th floors of the Heron Tower, the City of London will get another rooftop restaurant over at South Place Hotel just off Moorgate.

Hot Dinners got a sneak peek at what the restaurants at this D&D hotel will be like - and we're quite taken with the look of the top (seventh) floor Angler restaurant. With views over London (and a cracking looking terrace) Angler will focus on native fish, shellfish and crustacea so there'll be dishes like roast Cornish cod with a mariniere of cockles and squid and slow roast turbot with bone marrow, parsley and garlic to share. Seating 80, the restaurant will be open for lunch from 12pm to 3pm and for dinner from 6pm to 10.30pm.

Angler will also have a private 'Chef's room' seating 12 with internal and external views so you can look into the kitchens as well as over the City.

The restaurant's terrace will have its own more casual menu with an outdoor grill and an extensive cocktail list.

Down on the ground floor of the hotel will be the second restaurant - 3 South Place. This is going to be a British diner, open almost 24/7 from 6.30am to 2am. There'll be seats for 70 inside with more tables outdoors. The diner menu will run to comfort food classics such as smoked cobb British saslad, Lobster Mac and Heron Farm Longhorn Hamburger. 3 South Place will have its own, separate bar with resident DJ and a bar menu with snacks such as chicken pie and rarebit soldiers.

South Place is now open at 3 South Place, London EC2M 2AF. 020 3503 0000
