It's the time of year for Olive magazine's Alternative Restaurant Awards - which is always one of our favourite magazine features. This year is once again a boom one for London's eateries, with loads of awards heading to local faves.
- Alyn Williams at the Westbury picks up the Matthew Kelly Prize for Stars in his Eyes (for a new restaurant most deserving of a Michelin star)
- Byron picks up the gong for Chain with Soul (with Zizzi and Wahaca also getting mentions)
- Notting Hill's Hereford Road gets a mention for its express lunch dish in the Lunch Bargain of the Year (with Harrogate's Mirabelle picking up the main prize)
- Everyone's favourite, The Rib Man picks up the Mike Skinner Award for Street Food (other London faves Yum Bun and Kimchi Cult are also recommended)
- The Greenhouse is singled out for the Superior Dining For Those in the Know award
- Bermondsey Street wins Britain's Best Dining Road (and with Zucca, Jose, Antico and many more - it's no wonder)
- And finally Hawksmoor are awarded Kings of the Carnivore (with 34 also getting a shout out)
Finally - there are a vast amount of honourable mentions. You'll have to get the mag for the full list - but our faves are hot-dogs as "The New Burger", "Queue Most Worth Joining" for 10 Greek Street and on the other end of the spectrum, the "Don't Hold Your Breath" waiting list award given to the 9 month wait for Dabbous.
The awards are in the latest issue of Olive Magazine - out next week - and you can see a preview here.
