Alain Ducasse wants to open first Martian restaurant

He's one of the world's most celestial of chefs already, with 15 Michelin stars to his name, but it seems that Alain Ducasse has other-worldly ambitions. In an interview with this month's Yes Chef! magazine, Ducasse, who is already working for the international space programme, admits to wanting to launch a restaurant on another planet.

'Making any kind of food can be an exciting challenge...That's in part why I'd like to have the first restaurant on Mars,' he tells the magazine. 'That, and because there are too many competitors already on Earth.'

Ducasse was plainly in a playful mood for the interview in the Autumn edition. Asked why the world of the celebrity chef isn't for him, he answers; 'I wouldn't know how to be a celebrity chef. And I don't have the mistresses to make me interesting to newspapers otherwise.'

Who could he be referring to?
