As if we weren't excited enough by the upcoming opening of Balthazar, we now hear that there will eventually be two Balthazar bakeries in London open to all.
The first is the main Boulangerie, attached to the restaurant in Covent Garden. It'll be selling breads, pastries and Viennoiseries (from head pastry chef Regis Beauregard - former pastry chef at The Ritz) as well as sandwiches, salads, chocolate and cookies. They'll also be selling the cakes that are available in the restaurant. It's take-away only (with delivery coming) and will open before the main restaurant on February 11.
But in addition to this, there's also the Balthazar Wholesale Bakery in Waterloo. This has mainly been set up to supply Balthazar and other restaurants, but there are plans to open it to everyone. They'll eventually be selling bread and Viennoiseries fresh out of the oven. There will also be trestle table and bench style seating in the arches so that you can settle down with with a coffee and your freshly baked spoils.
The Balthazar Boulangerie will be open on February 11 at 8 Russell Street, London WC2B 5HZ. Opening hours are from 7am - 8pm weekdays and on Saturdays from 11am - 6pm.
The Balthazar Railway Wholesale Bakery is at Arch 189 & 190, Hercules Road, London SE1 7LD. It'll be open to the public at a to-be-announced date.
