We've got to say, we like the way street parties are going. They're no longer the kind of thing where the best you could expect food and drink-wise would be some curling sarnies, pasta salad of dubious origin and some lukewarm sauvignon blanc.
And the one that has Hot Dinners' name written all over it (not literally) is the Colebrook Row street party in Islington this weekend. Tony Conigliaro’s cocktail bar 69 Colebrooke Row is using the Italian National Holiday Ferragosto as a reason to get some of the borough's best restaurants together for a street shingdig. They'll be raising money for the charity Islington Giving.
On the food front, victuals will be provided by Bellanger and Oldroyd, who will provide food for the party, with Poco Gelato bringing its organic milk ice cream for dessert.
There'll be homemade limoncello, music from the bar's resident jazz quartet Dai Price and Aperol Spritzes all round.
Doors will open from 2pm on Sunday 14th August 2016 at 69 Colebrooke Row, London N1 8AA with deckchairs out on the street too. Celebrations will move inside the bar from 8pm, when the live music will begin. They're suggesting a donation of £5 for unlimited nibbles which is a total bargain.
