Twixmas - where to eat over Christmas and New Year

Some call it "Twixtmas" others "Betwixtmas" but for us, the period between Christmas and New Year has always been Twixmas. Many restaurants close over the period, but if you're in town it can be a great time to grab a table at those restaurants that have stayed open. So if you're looking to go out and can't wait until New Year's Eve - here's our pick of what's open (and when).

Fallow (St James) and Roe (Canary Wharf) - The two restaurants from the Fallow team are open throughout, and we have a special deal at Roe. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

AngloThai (Marylebone) - The long-awaited restaurant where Thai cooking meets British produce. Open 31 December - 1 Jan.

Lolo (Bermondsey) - Jose Pizarro's newest restaurant on Bermondsey Street. Open 28-31 December

Arlington (St James) - Jeremy King's revival of Le Caprice in all but name (The Park in Bayswater is also open). Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

Oma and Agora (Borough Market) - Our own favourite new restaurant of 2024, the Greek-inspired duo by David Carter. Open 28-31 December.

Café Francois (Borough Yards) - The more casual spin-off from Maison Francois. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

Fonda (Mayfair) - Santiago Lastra (Kol) with a more casual and affordable Mexican restaurant. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

Marceline (Canary Wharf) - Grand French brasserie open on the water. Open 28-31 December

The Hero (Maida Vale) - The ground floor pub and the menu there (but not the grill room) is open throughout. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

The Georgian (Knightsbridge) - Calum Franklin + pies in Harrods. Open 30 December - 1 Jan.

The Devonshire (Soho) - One of the hottest places in town with both the pub (with bar snacks) and the grill room upstairs open. Open lunch and dinner throughout the period

Lita (Marylebone) - Luke Ahearne's European/Mediterranean restaurant brings extra glamour to Marylebone. 27-31 December

Josephine (Chelsea) - Claude and Lucy Bosi's classic French bistro. Open 28-31 December, dinner only

Bouchon Racine (Farringdon) - Another classic French restaurant (and the pub downstairs is open too). 29 December for lunch and 30 December lunch & dinner

Mountain (Soho) - Tomos Parry's hit Soho is open, so it's time to try that amazing spider crab omelette. 28-31 December

Brat (Shoreditch) - Parry's original restaurant in Shoreditch is open throughout too. 27-31 December

Manteca (Shoreditch) -  David Carter and Chris Leach restaurant does nose-to-tail "Italian with a British accent". 27-31 December

Chez Bruce (Wandsworth) - A classic institution from Bruce Poole. 30-31 December

Bentley's (Mayfair) - Richard Corrigan's Mayfair restaurant is the perfect place for Twixmas seafood. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

Kiln (Soho) - It's walk-in only, so this is a great time to try this Thai-inspired counter restaurant. Open 28 December - 1 Jan.

Smoking Goat (Shoreditch) - Another Thai-inspired affair, from the same team as Kiln. 27-31 December

Perilla (Stoke Newington) and Morchella (Clerkenwell) - Both from the same team, including the newer Med-inspired Morchella. 28-31 December.

Trullo (Islington) - From the people behind Padella, this is a more refined Italian affair (and their first restaurant). 28-31 December

Camille (Borough Market) - The new-ish French restaurant from the people behind Ducksoup. 27-30 December

Bruno (Victoria Park) - A great wine bar from Michael Sager. Open 27-31 December
