Chef Tom Aikens is a busy man. Not only is he chef patron of the Michelin-starred Muse restaurant in Chelsea but he also runs restaurants in Tokyo and Jakarta. Most recently he’s joined forces with meal kit company My Supper Hero for a special short rib meal kit. A proportion of the proceeds from each box sold will go towards Tom's charity, Only A Pavement Away, which helps support vulnerable people with jobs in hospitality. A resident of Chelsea, he’s agreed to share his favourite local food and drink places with us.
Chelsea Fishmongers
12 Cale St, London SW3 3QU
The owner Rex Goldsmith is not only a lovely fella, but also knows one or two things about fish. It’s always the best quality and he’s always happy to help out and suggest some lovely fish.
Hagen Espresso Bar
9 Old Brompton Rd, London SW7 3HZ
I have always really liked the coffee here, also the Pimlico spot is lovely , this one in particular is handy as it’s on the way back from the school run, so I can nip in and get a coffee before heading to work. Always happy & helpful staff, which makes you want to come back of course.
Buns From Home
The Forecourt Underground Station, Sloane Square, London SW1W 8AN
It’s always great to stop by the one at at Chelsea tube station when I cycle to work. I stop for a bun of some kind then carry onto work. Pick out a favourite from cinnamon , banana or dulce
Ice Cream Union
166 Pavilion Rd, London SW1X 0AW
This Pavilion Road place is awesome, as my kids also love it. I go for the simple flavours of vanilla and strawberry or raspberry, whereas my kids will go for indulgent flavours like chocolate and caramel.
Bibendum
Michelin House, 81 Fulham Rd., London SW3 6RD
Claude Bosi’s restaurant is one of my favourite places to dine in when I feel like spoiling myself, truly world-class cooking!
