October is another extremely busy month for new openings. There's a top new chef at The Beaumont, one of the world's best sushi chefs is setting up shop in Mayfair, Chelsea has a three-in-one opening and that's just a taster...
Rosi
Mayfair - 8 Balderton St, Brown Hart Gardens, London W1K 6TF
This is actually a move for Lisa Goodwin-Allen, who was last at The Stafford (which Michael Caines took over last month). Best known for her restaurant at Northcote in Lancashire, she's now reinventing the food at The Beaumont hotel, particularly its main restaurant. What was The Colony Grill (originally launched by Corbin & King) is becoming Rosi, a British brasserie with "reimagined classics" like chicken Diane, sponge & custard and more on the menu. The room is getting a revamp too, making it much lighter in appearance, but if you've been during any of its iterations, you'll recognise that the bones of the room remain the same.
Opening: 1 October 2025
Motorino
Fitzrovia - 1 Pearson Square, London W1T 3BF
This restaurant sees two top chefs getting together in Fitzrovia. There's Luke Ahearne (pictured), who was responsible for Lita getting a Michelin star in its first year, and Stevie Parle, who's following up his big Covent Garden hit Town. This is in some ways a spiritual successor to Town in that it apparently shares the glossy approach to the decor, but Motorino will apparently be Italian-focused at an accessible price point. Details are very sketchy, even this close to the opening, which can be a risk in our experience, but ultimately this is a strong kitchen team that should bring the goods.
Opening: 20 October 2025
Tobi Masa
Mayfair - 30 Grosvenor Square, Mayfair, London W1K 6LE
After last month's unveiling of The Chancery Rosewood and the high-profile launch of Carbone in the same building, this month brings another big hitter. Until recently, Masa Takayama had a prominent counter space in the Harrods Dining Hall, but this is his first proper London restaurant. His restaurant in New York has three Michelin stars and we hear that his London venture will feature local interpretations of the signature dishes there. The chef's legendary Masa Toro Tartare will definitely make an appearance, and the bar here should have a pretty great bar snacks menu.
Opening: Late October 2025
2210 by NattyCanCook
Herne Hill -75 Norwood Road, London SE24 9AA
Nathaniel Mortley, aka NattyCanCook, made headlines by being a chef who turned his life around after working at The Clink restaurant in HMP Brixton. Since then, he's had some very successful pop-ups, but this will be the chef's first restaurant. Like his previous pop-ups and residencies, it will be all about refined versions of Caribbean staples, with dishes including spring rolls filled with ackee and salted cod and jerk chicken supreme alongside deep-fried apple crumble for dessert.
Opening: 22 October 2025
Martina
Chelsea - 1, Walham Green Court, Fulham Road, London SW6 2DH
Marta pizzeria has become a real sleeper hit in Chelsea, with the Roman-style pizzas there becoming known as some of the best in London. Making the most of this, the team behind it are changing their other restaurant, which was The Hungry Turtle, into a second pizzeria. It'll be a very handy pre/post-Stamford Bridge pit-stop and this time they're aiming for Martina to be a mixture of a pizzeria and Roman trattoria.
Opening: October 2025
The Black Eel
Dalston - 41 Kingsland High Street, London E8 2JS
The Black Eel is a brand new pub for Dalston that happens to be taking over what was the F Cooke eel, pie and mash shop (more recently home to the Draughts board game venue). In charge of the new pub are Exale brewing from Walthamstow, who also run the William the Fourth in Leyton. The kitchen here is called Riley's and in charge of that is Billy Fisher, previously head chef at the hugely popular Lagom in Hackney. Dishes include Pork ribs, pickles and hot honey and Billy is also promising a proper Basque cheesecake with toffee sauce. As for drinks, there will be lots of Exale's beer, but also a list of natural wines.
Opening: 24 October 2025
Tangra
Soho - 17 Frith Street, London W1D 4RG
There's been a lot of talk about the demise of late-night dining of late, but here comes a new restaurant that's bucking that trend. Tangra will be an Indo-Chinese restaurant, largely (if not all) vegetarian, and most importantl,y it will be open until 1.30 am, so should prove to be an extremely handy place for a late-night feast. In charge is Executive Chef Nikesh Sawant, most recently development chef at Mildreds, with dishes on the menu including signature momos, wok-seared or served in tomato-lemongrass jhol, alongside Manchurian kofta, chilli paneer and more.
Opening: October 2025
Arthur's Market
Chelsea - 279 King’s Rd, London SW3 5EW
Earlier this year, The Prince Arthur opened in Belgravia, bringing something very different to the London pub scene, featuring a Spanish menu and lots of caviar. Now the same team are opening in Chelsea and it's a three-in-one affair. Arthur's Market itself promises to be a properly high-end deli, but within that there are two new and quite different places to eat. First, there's ASA, a Japanese handroll izakaya and there's also Salvador, a pintxo grill serving up "Mediterranean-inspired, wood-fired dishes". Given how well the team carried off The Prince Arthur, we can see this going down very well with Chelsea locals.
Opening: October 2025
The Shaston Arms
Soho - 4-6 Ganton St, Carnaby, London W1F 7QN
This pub is a relatively new one for Soho (it opened in 1999) but it's in the process of getting a major makeover from its new owner. That's Joe Grossmann, founder of Patty & Bun, whose last pub opening was the excellent Waterman's Arms in Barnes. He's bringing his chef from there, Sam Andrews (previously at Ducksoup), to take over the Soho kitchen so this is definitely one pub to watch.
