The big new London restaurants opening in October 2024

October sees the arrival of the second restaurant from Kol's Santiago Lastra, another new Jason Atherton opening and some big changes to the Pantechnicon building in Belgravia, alongside many more new openings.

Fonda

Mayfair - 12 Heddon St, London W1B 4BZ

Santiago Lastra is the man behind Kol, one of only two UK restaurants on the World's 50 Best list, so there's a lot of anticipation for this follow up. It'll be a slightly more casual affair than Kol, and is billed as a "Contemporary Mexican" restaurant, with an eye on nostalgic dishes from Santiago's childhood. In practice, that means dishes like quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese and Wiltshire black truffle, lobster al pastor tacos and confit pork shoulder carnitas. Plus, leaning into the trend of the moment, there will be a rice pudding dessert. As for the drinks, Paloma cocktails are the big deal, including a Champagne Paloma served form the bottle.

Opening: 3 October 2024

Three Darlings

Chelsea - 241b Pavilion Road, London SW1X 0PB

Jason Atherton is currently the busiest restaurateur in town as Three Darlings is the second of his three brand-new restaurants to open in the space of three months. Teaming up with his wife Irha, this is named after their three daughters. At the time of writing, it's being called a neighbourhood bistro with food billed as "modern English cuisine infused with European influences". As yet, there are no menu details, with the few dishes being revealed including a smoked brisket duck egg (pictured) and a mango, strawberry, and vanilla sundae. His other openings have been well received so far, so this one should continue his impressive run.

Opening: 24 October 2024

FantomasFantomas

Chelsea - 300 King's Road, London SW3 5UH

This is the new restaurant from Chris Denney, previously best known for his restaurants 108 Garage and Fiend. It sees him teaming up with the group behind recent hits like Lita and Wild, taking over the old Chelsea 28-50 site. The menu is that old stalwart "modern European" but expect many Denney flourishes with dishes including Iberico belly with quince, lime and jalapeno and cocktails like a Pandan ice tea with coconut oil-washed rum. The wine list will be good too.

Opening: October 2024 (date TBC)

ParioPario

Vauxhall - 9 Newport St, London SE11 6AJ

Pharmacy 2, the restaurant inside Damien Hirst's gallery closed just before the Pandemic, but now a new pair of chefs are taking on the space. Charlie Bryant (ex Dorchester and Alyn Williams) and George Browne (a private chef who's also been behind several pop-ups) have taken it on with a brief that's to make a menu with local produce for "super tasty food which isn't messed with". Dishes include barbecued Cornish native lobster tail with tempura claws and milk ice cream affogato. Charlie's recent pop-up appearances have been very popular, so this is definitely one to watch.

Opening: 8 October 2024

Sachi, Luum and AmelieSachi, Luum and Amelie

Belgravia - 19 Motcomb, London SW1X 8LB

This is essentially a wholesale reinvention of the Pantechnicon building, which has been closed for a big brush-up. Kappo-Japanese restaurant Sachi was already there, but is now moving from the basement to the second floor and, most importantly, rooftop space. Completely new is Amelie, a Provençale restaurant from the same people behind the METT Marbella which we visited recently and were very impressed with the food offering - so we have high hopes for that one. Finally, LUUM takes over the basement space as a new cocktail bar (alongside live acts). So think of this as Act II of the building.

Opening: SACHI on 26 October 2024, Amélie on 28 October, LUUM on 31 October

Delamina TownhouseDelamina Townhouse

Covent Garden - 13-15 Tavistock Street, London WC2E 7PS

Delamina originally started life in Marylebone before expanding east to Shoreditch - and now they're heading right into central London, taking over the space that used to be Volto Do Mar in Covent Garden. Like the other restaurants, the restaurant will be focused around Eastern Mediterranean cooking with dishes like Arak-cured sea trout and za’atar-marinated seafood on the plancha. It's a Grade II listed space so expect a warren of rooms and plenty of private dining spaces to book too.

Opening: 28 October 2024

TamilaTamila

Battersea - 39 Northcote Rd, London SW11 1NJ

Tamila comes from the same team who brought us The Tamil Prince and The Tamil Crown. However, while those were pubs which had Indian food, this is the first time they've done a standalone restaurant. As with the predecessors, there is a focus on South Indian cuisine, and there will be new dishes just for Battersea, including more breads and Masala Poori, wheat flour fried bread served with potato masala and coconut chutney.

Opening: 1 October 2024
