Some big hitters are coming our way during a very busy November including a must-visit Soho pub, Jamie Oliver's return to restaurants, a new Wolseley and a lot more. Here's our guide to the new openings to watch.
The Devonshire
Soho - 17 Denman Street, London W1D 7HW
Definitely one of the most eagerly anticipated new openings of the season, this sees legendary landlord Oisin Rogers teaming up with Flat Iron founder Charlie Carroll for a new Soho pub. Downstairs it'll be a proper boozer while the restaurant takes up the next two floors with an amazing wood-fired oven dominating one floor. Expect expertly-aged meats and a classic British menu.
Opening date: Early November 2023
Jamie Oliver Catherine St
Covent Garden - 6 Catherine Street, London WC2B 5JY
This will be one of Jamie Oliver's biggest tests to date. A few years after he closed down all his UK restaurants, he's back with something completely different. There will be a focus on British produce here with dishes like devilled eggs and Exmoor caviar alongside what, these days, appears to be an obligatory roast chicken dish.
Opening date: 28 November 2023
More about Jamie Oliver Catherine Street
The Wolseley City
City of London - 68 King William Street, London EC4N 7HR
Much like Jamie Oliver's restaurant above, the Wolseley Group have something to prove with this new opening their first expansion of the main brand since taking over Corbin & King. The Wolseley has expended before (in Biscester) but this City opening is pretty massive (and bigger than the original). This could be the new place for City business breakfasts.
Opening date: 8 November 2023
Pearly Queen
Spitalfields - 44 Commercial Street, London E1 6LT
After success with Cornerstone in Hackney Wick, this sees chef Tom Brown heading to Spitalfields. Like the original, there's a big focus on seafood here as it's billed as an oyster bar as well as a restaurant. Three Sheets bar's Max Venning is in charge of cocktails so those should be well worth checking out too.
Opening date: 11 November
Broadwick Soho
Soho - 20 Broadwick Street, London W1F 8HT
It's been a year of big new hotel openings and this new Soho hotel is definitely one to watch. There are several bars and restaurants within it but the most intriguing is the rooftop bar flute. That's promising a wraparound terrace with views across Soho so we expect that to very quickly become a hot ticket.
Opening date: 15 November
The Tamil Crown
Islington - 16 Ella St, London N1 8DE
When the Tamil Prince opened in Islington last year it was an instant hit, revitalising a pub in the middle of Barnsbury with an excellent South Indian menu. Now the same team is hoping for similar success in nearby Angel, taking over what used to be The Charles Lamb. The Sunday roasts here sound particularly good, including roasted lamb shank, and Masala roast beef and the pictured Karaikudi crab masala should be a hit too.
Opening date: 16 November 2023
Donia
Carnaby - Top Floor, Kingly Ct, Carnaby St, London W1B 5PW
The team behind Mamasons are coming to Kingly Court for their latest opening where the menu is pitched as "marrying the heartfelt warmth of Filipino cuisine with the sophistication of modern British culinary arts." All their other openings have been great, so we've high hopes for Donia.
Opening date: Mid-November 2023
Dalla
Hackney - 120 Morning Ln, London E9 6LH
This restaurant takes over what used to be Peg, but the restaurant should look quite different when it opens its doors. Gennaro and Gianmarco Leone have teamed up with Mitchell Damota (recently seen at P Franco) for a restaurant where as much focus will be on the beautiful design of the restaurant as with the menu of homestyle Italian cooking.
Opening date: 9 November 2023
Ixchel
Chelsea - 33 King's Rd, London SW3 4LX
Another very promising Mexican restaurant comes to London in the shape of Ixchel. Chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez (previously at Brat and Ella Canta) is in charge of a menu of ceviches, tacos, tostadas and lots more. There's also a separate tequila bar with "one of the largest collections of agave-based liquor in Europe".
Opening date: 22 November 2023
Sune
Broadway Market - 129A Pritchard’s Road, London E2 9AP
Sune (pronounced Soon-er) comes from hospitality power couple Honey Spencer and Charlie Sims. They've brought in ex-Pidgin Head Chef Michael Robins to run the menu which features dishes like a smoked eel Caesar salad. The wine list will be a particularly big deal here.
