July sees some big restaurant openings from top chefs with Richard Corrigan, Tom Sellers and Tomos Parry all having new openings this month.
Dovetale
Mayfair - 1 Dover Yard at 1 Hotel Mayfair, London W1J 8DJ
After only recently, and very successfully, opening Story Cellar Tom Sellers is already getting ready to open his next restaurant. This time it's part of the new 1 Hotel Mayfair and it's billed as a having a sustainably-led menu of reimagined classics. That means we can expect dishes like Sole Veronique but frankly we're a little more excited about the planned Knickerbocker Glory trolley.
Studio Gauthier
Fitzrovia - 21 Stephen Street, London W1T 1LN
Alexis Gauthier already has one of London's best vegan restaurants with Gauthier Soho, a place that manages to attract the odd proper A-lister. This sees him taking the Gauthier brand to a slightly more relaxed environment, which they've been billing as "Gauthier-lite". You'll find a combination of some of the great vegan sushi he's had on offer at 123V in Fenwicks as well as dishes like a Pithivier D’Eté with morels and blackberry salad.
Pavyllon
Mayfair - Hamilton Pl, London W1J 7DR
Yannick Alléno is a big thing in France and has amassed 15 Michelin stars at his restaurants. He's hoping to match that success with his first London restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel London on Park Lane. IN London he'll be serving up "a British expression of his signature modern French dishes" with dishes including a steamed cheddar souffle or brioche-crusted sea bass quenelles. He's also launched Bar Antoine in the same hotel, so that might be an ideal spot to try one of his snacks paired with a cocktail or three.
TA TA at The Sea The Sea
Hackney - 337 Acton Mews, London E8 4EA
TA TA Eatery, Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves, who were last seen helping with the launch of Mr Ji, are back with their own thing taking over The Sea The Sea for one month only. It'll be a chef's table event (it's actually the only table there) with a menu that they say is "about connecting people; connecting the guest to the chef and the supplier." They're an excellent team and it'll be well worth catching them at their best. Look out for some special guests too.
The Portrait Restaurant
National Portrait Gallery - St Martin’s Pl, London WC2H 0HE
We've already had the launch of Audrey Green and the impressive Larry's at the revamped National Portrait Gallery; next up it's the turn of Richard Corrigan. He's taking over the prestigious rooftop restaurant where they're pairing some spectacular views with food like vol-au-vent filled with haddock and brown crab (we do love a good vol-au-vent). We're also looking forward to his oyster croque monsieur. Corrigan is backed up by the amazing Jon Spiteri on hosting duties.

World Famous Gordos
Hackney - Netil Market, 23 Westgate St, London E8 3RL
Gordos originally opened to great acclaim in Dalston but they were forced to close during the pandemic (the Gordos in Dalston is not the same as the original). They've taken their wares to Netil Market, rebranded to "World Famous Gordos" and are taking over the space that was once BAO's. There, they'll have 'very large pies from a very small menu' that include the NY Cheese - a tomato and cheese pizza with fior de latte mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes and a sesame seed coated crust.

Mountain
Soho - 16-18 Beak St, London W1F 9RD
This is the highly anticipated new restaurant from Brat chef Tomos Parry. Billed as something quite different from a Brat 2.0, this will be a wood grill restaurant and wine bar, with food influenced by areas across Spain. The dish to go for will definitely be the lobster caldereta, served in steaming ceramic pots.
Outcrop
Temple - 180 Strand, London WC2R 1EA
We've been waiting to hear where AngloThai will be opening their permanent restaurant, but in the meantime, an opportunity to try out their great Thai food is appearing in the 180 Strand building as part of this new pop-up. They're creating a new menu and wine list for the pop-up which also involves Johnny Smith and Daniel Willis, the people behind Luca and The Clove Club. Dishes include Wye Valley asparagus and sunflower seed satay but they had us at Thai tea burnt cream.
