We've already taken a look at some of the biggest openings coming our way in 2023 - but there are already quite a few opening in January alone. Here are the restaurants to look out for.
Lino
Queen's Park - 6 Lonsdale Road, London NW6 6RD
Originally in the City, we were rather fond of Lino when it first opened there. However, it closed during the pandemic but now it's opening up again in a brand new space in West London (on the same stretch as Milk Beach and Carmel). Expect a brand new menu but let's hope their amazing croissant bread and butter pudding makes a comeback.
Sichuan Fry x Dumpling Shack
Hackney - 2 Westgate St, London E8 3RN
It's been a while in the making but the new home of Dumpling Shack and Sichuan Fry is finally ready to open. It's doubling up to serve both fried crispy chicken buns as well as some of the very best dumplings in London.

Humo
Mayfair - 12 St George's Street, London W1S 2FB
This wood-fire restaurant comes from the same group that brought us Notting Hill's Sumi and the Michelin-starred Endo at Rotunda, so we're expecting impressive things. Taking over the old Wild Honey space, it'll be primarily counter dining, with everyone sitting around a 4m wood grill. Just right for the winter months, then.
Akub
Notting Hill - 27 Uxbridge Street, London W8 7TQ
Another restaurant pushed back from last year, this new Notting Hill restaurant is by renowned French Palestinian chef Fadi Kattan. He’ll be mixing the best British produce with fair trade-souced goods from Palestine and giving trad dishes a modern touch.
Darjeeling Express
Carnaby - Kingly Court, Kingly St, Carnaby, London W1B 5PW
Asma Khan's Darjeeling Express returns to (almost) the same place her restaurant first started from. This time she's in a bigger space in Kingly Court with an open kitchen that will be showcasing the chefs' work. Expect Paul Rudd or Dan Levy (two of her biggest celebrity fans) to make an appearance...
Jacuzzi
Kensington - 94 Kensington High Street, London W8 4SH
Destined to be the biggest new opening of January, Big Mamma (Ave Mario, Circolo Popolare) are back with what's sure to be another sure-fire hit for them. This time the restaurant runs across four floors, will feature a "disco toilet" and dishes include Lobster Risotto or Pizzetta topped with Italian Transmontanus Caviar.
Also opening in January
- Forno (Hackney) - A new bakery, deli and pastificio from the man behind Ombra
- Vori (Notting Hill) - From the team behind Hungry Donkey, a new Greek restaurant
- Cavo (Soho) - Mediterranean rooftop restaurant by Tottenham Court Road
