The big new London restaurants opening in August 2023

The last month of summer, August, sees the London restaurant scene quieten down a little. But there are still some very promising new openings this month - here's what's coming your way.

64 Goodge Street

Fitzrovia - 64 Goodge St, London W1T 4NF

This is the next opening from The Woodhead Restaurant Group and it joins their two other restaurants in the Fitzrovia area, Portland and Clipstone (and they're also behind Quality Chop House). Head Chef Stuart Andrew is in charge and it's being billed as a "bistro that lacks pretension". Dishes like rabbit niçoise and lobster vol-au-vent sound very interesting indeed.

He's best known for Stratford Upon Avon restaurant Salt, now chef Paul Foster is coming to Camden with this restaurant that has a distinct focus on grass-fed beef. On the menu, he'll have Beef Snag (a beef hotdog with truffle mayonnaise), roasted bone marrow with pangrattato and beef fat and marmite potatoes alongside various coal-cooked cuts.

ParoParo

Covent Garden - 21 Wellington St, London WC2E 7RQ

The concept of the theatre restaurant has been stretched quite a bit of late. We've already had the great Lasdun and now Paro is coming to the Lyceum Theatre in Covent Garden. Previously at City Spice in Brick Lane, chef Niaz Caan is opening a restaurant that is an ode to all things Calcutta with dishes that are a modern spin on the traditional Indian cuisine of West Bengal.
