Andrew Wong is one of the UK's most celebrated Chinese chefs and the founder of A Wong in Victoria which currently holds two Michelin stars. The restaurant was founded by his parents in the 1980s so it's been in the family for decades. All of which makes him a great person to talk about the best food and drink spots in and around Victoria and Pimlico.
Gopal’s Corner
Market Halls, 191 Victoria St, London SW1E 5NE
Gopal’s Corner by Roti King in Market Halls is a Malaysian Tamil restaurant with a short but delicious menu. I really like their handmade rotis and chicken on the bone.
Lorne
76 Wilton Rd, Pimlico, London SW1V 1DE
This British restaurant is loved by the local neighbourhood. When it first opened, the two young owners would often come by to borrow various things. We got on really well, and it's been amazing to see them go from strength to strength. Katie does the wine, and the food is made by a super-talented young team.
Tachbrook Street Market
42 Tachbrook St, Lillington and Longmoore Gardens, London SW1V 2JS
You'll find Jonathan Norris Fishmongers at the market, with a great mix of dayboat catches, whelks, and pickled cockles. There’s also a fruit and vegetable stall run by John and his wife, who put on a big array of global fruit and vegetables, including amazing mangos, dragon fruit, large strawberries, and many different varieties of potatoes and tomatoes.
Hatch
77 Wilton Rd, Pimlico, London SW1V 1DE
This is a great place for breakfast, with smoothies and acai berries. Hatch has excellent hospitality, is open all day, and there’s live music in the evenings.
Ben Venuti
34 Upper Tachbrook St, Pimlico, London SW1V 1SW
This place serves excellent coffee and offers Italian pistachio cream over a double espresso. They also have tasty sandwiches, olives, and chocolate-coated almonds.
