Get a taste of Brazilian influences at Mayfair's Maroto restaurant

Promoted feature

If the cold London winter is getting you down, then a trip to Brazil courtesy of new Mayfair restaurant Maroto could be just the antidote. Just north of Oxford Street you'll find this chic spot where the food aims to straddle the space between fine dining and a fun casual experience.

The menu is "inspired by Brazil's diverse culinary heritage but not bound by it", so you 'll find a mix of Brazilian dishes and ingredients alongside the best of the UK's seasonal produce.

Leading Maroto's kitchen is Head Chef Mark Tolentino. He has put together an a la carte menu which includes treats like:

  • Bone marrow with guava-glazed short rib, tapioca pancake, and cashew cream
  • Caviar with smoked haddock, lemon cream, and chives
  • Moqueca - a Brazilian fish stew made with salmon, lobster, coconut and lime leaf

There's also a catch of the day and tomahawk steak for sharing, with a seasonally changing choice of sauces that might feature cupuaçu and onion chutney; pimenta Malagueta emulsion or Sakura soy sauce, naturally brewed in Brazil.

As you might expect, cocktails have a similar Brazilian spirit. There's the Maroto Punch made with Cachaça, Lime, Papaya, Passion Fruit, Coconut, Guava or the Tipsy Triker which uses Santiago Cuba rum, Açaí Syrup and Cherry Puree.

If you're looking for a private dining room for entertaining, there's a lovely space here too, hidden behind the wine wall. And Maroto also does a very useful early evening menu that's two courses for just £49.
