What: The riverside terrace has been given an Alpine makeover with baskets filled with pine cones and logs and sheepskin blankets and furs on every chair.
What to eat: Tartiflette with Reblochon, lardons and caramelised onions.
To drink: Blazing French Toddys, mulled wine, or Hot Chocolate spiked with Havana Selection Maestro, whisky cream liqueur and melted chocolate.
Monkey 47 Winter Lodge
The Rosewood, 252 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7EN
What: Taking over the courtyard at the Rosewood London this Bavarian Lodge will be complete with cosy seating and soft woolly blanket and cuckoo clocks. The staff are all rather fetchingly dressed in Belstaff.
Open: Until February Wednesday – Saturday: 4pm – 10.30pm & Sundays 4pm – 10.15pm
To drink: Hot and cold gin cocktails, inspired by German desserts and paired with British ones. The Black Forest Gateau cocktail is topped with shaved chocolate at your table as you decide how much is too much.
What to eat: Spiced Custard Tart with Agen Prunes or anything from chef Calum Franklin like his scotch eggs or pies.

Winter Lodge at The Hampshire Lounge Bar

What: This newish Leicester Bar has been given a piste makeover with oak barrel seats and a LOT of fur throws.
What to eat: Warm brandy & maple-glazed ribs; Grilled raclette cheese served on chilli & rosemary bread and waffle wrap with white chocolate crème, dulce de leche ice cream & caramelised pecans.
To drink: Hot toddys and warm white fudge cocoa with El Dorado eight-year rum & crushed Oreo cookies
The Devonshire in Balham
39 Balham High Road, London SW12 9AN
What; there are five covered and heated chalets. Packages for 10 begin at just £4.45 per person and include a round of apres-ski-inspired shots with a choice of Jäger or toffee vodka.
What to eat: the Swiss Alps Burger or Balham Wurst, with sides of sweet potato fries and a melted gruyere cheese topping.
