So Harvey Nichols does afternoon tea?
They do indeed, in their Fifth Floor Café and Terrace, afternoon tea is served every day from 12-5pm. The terrace is open all year round (weather permitting) so on a good day, you can take tea alfresco, overlooking Knightsbridge.
What's their spin on things?
As with the main menu of the restaurant, the focus is on using locally sourced ingredients, with a menu that changes seasonally. At the moment, with Valentine's Day imminent, there's a definite focus on a loved-up menu with hearts in abundance in their All Hearts Desire afternoon tea menu.
Here's what you'll find in their afternoon tea right now:
Sandwiches and bites
Things kick off with four finger sandwiches, including grilled Mediterranean vegetables and feta on turmeric bread along with chicken and tarragon salad on wholemeal bread (as well as cucumber and cream cheese, of course). On the savoury side, there's also an egg salad brioche.
Scones
A vital part of any afternoon tea, there are raisin and plain scones available with clotted cream and their own Harvey Nichols strawberry jam (which you can pick up to take home from the food market on the Fifth Floor).
Sweets
Finally finish up with their heart-covered sweets, which include a mango and Greek yoghurt passion fruit panna cotta, chocolate and rose water macaroon and a glazed cherry cake.
You can see the full menu here.
What about the tea?
The afternoon tea features their own brand Harvey Nichols loose leaf tea, with everything from English Breakfast and Assam to Darjeeling, Earl Grey, Jasmine Pearls and Rose Pouchong on offer. Don't fancy tea? Then you can swap that for an Illy coffee.
And how much does it come to?
For Knightsbridge, this is pretty good value at £40 for the full afternoon tea. If you fancy adding a glass of Champagne to that, it's an extra £10.
