Peek into the future with the Future of Food Festival at Regent Street and St James’s

Promoted content

Circle the week of 18–24 September in your calendars, as it marks an exciting debut for a new food festival in London. The Future of Food Festival will be a series of events that takes over Regent Street and St James’s with 17 events, 23 participating restaurants, one Urban Farm and famous chefs celebrating central London’s diverse culinary landscape.

What’s it about?

Do we need a new food festival? We do. Because this one is looking to the future (the clue is in the name) and champions the power of sustainability, innovation and creativity. Find yourself listening to experts discussing the merits of reusable ingredients or even the concept of dining in space while marvelling at the intricacies of Michelin-starred menus or local community creations.

Regent Street’s first Urban Farm

In a first for Regent Street, you’ll be able to visit an Urban Farm for free across the food festival week (and after the festival too), thanks to a partnership with Square Mile Farms and The Felix Project. This is a hot spot to discover more about sustainable urban practices in a ‘green incubator project’. It has ticketed events (the official opening includes Bompas & Parr’s reveal of their Imminent Future of Food 2024 Report) but also free initiatives, such as chef-led pesto-making demos using herbs from the site farm pods or a hands-on micro-herb masterclass.

The Urban Farm will be open from 1-29 September. Find out the opening days and times here

Restaurants and chefs

Some of the hottest names in town are taking part, with bespoke one-off menus created by chefs such as Alex Dilling from the two-Michelin-starred restaurant at Hotel Café Royal and Anthony Demetre from Michelin-starred Wild Honey St James. Alternatively, take a tour of the Milos fish market before a seafood tasting menu at Estiatorio Milos.

There’ll also be must-do practical sessions, with only a few tickets left for Bentley’s oyster-shucking masterclass, for example. Or why not attend the Chef All-Stars Taste & Talk with Chantelle Nicholson, Anna Haugh and Sally Abe?

Special offers and giveaways

You don’t need a big budget to attend, with live demos and giveaways happening across the venues. Full details are yet to be revealed, but we like the sound of £10 dishes and some superb set deals, such as Yokocho in Heddon Street which is offering any ramen plus a flight of sake and a mochi ice cream for £23. Or perhaps you fancy 20% off the half-day Puddings Masterclass with Sauce by The Langham? At any rate, keep an eye on the coffee shops, pubs and bars Regent Street and St James’s for special offers.
