What We Know:

The Nobu restaurants worldwide are just as big a deal since the first one opened in New York about 30 years ago. This Park Lane outpost was the first in London (and the first outside the US) and remains hugely popular to this day. The miso black cod is still the signature dish and the sushi here is excellent - many of London's great sushi chefs started here.

What We Know:

The Italian Greyhound occupies an enviably large corner space in Marylebone, offering both a sunlit dining room as well as a great terrace space. Billed as a neighbourhood Italian restaurant, you can find classic Italian food on the menu, from pizza to pasta, and there are some great snacks if you fancy popping in for a glass of wine. There's a handy private dining room downstairs if you need somewhere for a group.

Right next door to The Berkeley is The Maybourne Group's all-suite hotel, The Emory. Cedric Grolet is often described as the best pastry chef in the world and this is his London outpost (the first outside France). This sees top French chef Yannick Alleno (who has many Michelin stars to his name) in charge of the main restaurant and bar at The Four Seasons on Park Lane. This iteration of the restaurant has a huge counter dining space where you can see the chefs putting the finishing touches to Alleno's haute cuisine up close. The bar space also features a separate menu of sushi and more snacks.

This is the main restaurant inside the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge. It's run by the same group that runs Scarpetta in New York (and a few more restaurants worldwide). If you’re after a traditional Indian meal in comfortable surroundings, then this elegant West London spot is just the ticket. From an extensive menu, the tandoor section is probably the best area to spend time on and it’s a particularly good spot to go if there’s a vegan or vegetarian in your group.

Spotting this bakery and cafe is easy - just look for the queue snaking its way down Connaught Street. A viral sensation, everyone is going crazy for La Maritxu’s burnt baked Basque cheesecake. Order a slice to have in, with a cup of coffee or get a full cheesecake to go.

This is Irish celeb chef Richard Corrigan's main restaurant in London, and one where much of the produce comes from his own farm in Ireland. Expect hearty food and also a damned fine bar attached to it too, called Dickie's, where the drinks have a distinct Irish flavour.

Wolfgang Puck made his fortune serving gourmet pizzas to Hollywood's elite. It's currently his only European restaurant - part of the Dorchester Collection. Steaks are the focus here as well as plenty of interesting salads for the stars to push around their plates. Puck does pop in from time to time and while there, you should make sure to check out the bar, where they have a negroni trolley.

What We Know:

This is from the people behind Donostia - and it's just across the road from their sibling. It's a much larger restaurant and there's a big emphasis on the aged Galician beef, which they import themselves (and supply other restaurants with too). An excellent place to try Basque-style steak in London - and they've a lovely private courtyard too.

Heston's only London gaff is still hugely popular. The dishes that captured everyone's attention when it opened - the Meat Fruit (chicken liver parfait shaped like a mandarin) and the Tipsy Cake are still on the menu and are must-order dishes if you haven't got round to trying them yet. Keep an eye out for A-list diners, the hotel is a well-known celebrity haunt.

This Marylebone restaurant evokes the style of Argentinean steakhouses, with a stripped-back brick interior.
