This Japanese/Parisian import is the food element of Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaëc’s fashion brand. The fox shaped biscuits might be all you’ve seen on Instagram but they also have double baked matcha croissants, a caramel miso and pecan chocolate bar and a black tea and cherry cream puff among other delights.

Gu choki Pan
Delivery and west London pop-ups
It's all about Japanese sourdough at Yumiko Davis's Japanese micro-bakery which delivers to mainly West London and also pops up at Ravenscourt and Bishops Park markets at the weekend. Yumiko also sells matcha 'greenies' and a range of sweet and savoury pans.

Happy Sky Bakery

Run by Japanese baker Motoko McNulty who moved from catering into baking, this Shepherd's Bush bakery's reputation has spread way beyond London. In addition to milk loaves and yuzu custard doughnuts they also do a fun line in children's treats too.

Head to Islington's Camden Passage where, among the antique shops, you'll find this Japanese tea room. On the menu of home-baked treats are strawberry short cake (of course), omanju and wakaayu.

Chef Masayuki Hara was born in Japan but trained in London, working at Le Gavroche and for Prue Leith and Richard Corrigan. Here in his own bakery, he uses those French and modern British techniques alongside Japanese ingredients to serve quite beautiful tarts and cakes. So Paris Brest comes in its traditional form or with green tea and you'll find yuzu mousse cake alongside Pear Charlotte.

If you're looking for kawaii, then you've come to the right place. Super cute cakes are all the thing at this Exmouth Market cafe - and if you're after something bigger for a celebration then pre-order that in advance. The range changes all the time, but recent treats have included cotton cheesecake and cherry blossom mochi.

This South Ealing bakery makes amazing Japanese breads, cakes and pastries - if you want to make sure something is going to be in stock, like their sweet azuki bean buns, then order ahead. They also do French baguettes which are the stuff of legend in these parts.

This indie company started out in West London and now has a place in Covent Garden too where if you're into matcha, you can find it flavouring pan, croissant, tiramisu, sable - you name it. But they also do a very interesting savoury range featuring sandos and stuffed milk rolls too.
