This Peckham restaurant comes from local success story, Kudu, and it's all about South African braai, with open-fire cooking a big part of the restaurant. Most of the dishes will come from the open grill and they'll also be using their nearby allotment as a source for the produce.

Run by a couple, Kudu pays homage to husband Patrick’s South African roots but borrows inspiration from all over, for instance matching peri peri duck hearts with dukkah. Their boundary-pushing works – the food is different and delicious. Anything cooked on the braai (barbecue) comes recommended but whatever you do, order the Kudu bread with melted lardon butter and sumac. Mind. Blowing.

This is the UK flagship restaurant for the South-African based chain. It does what it says on the tin and specialises in meat with the odd unusual choice such as Springbok or Kangaroo included on the menu. Wines are also a strongpoint.
