The Lavery opens a café that's just as beautiful as the main restaurant and very handy for museum visits

The Lavery in South Kensington has been winning a lot of fans of late, such as Grace Dent, who called the space "not only beautiful, but useful", being so close to the museums. In her review, Grace notes that "Apparently, they’re opening a downstairs cafe soon, for more grab-and-go-type fare". Well, now that cafe has been unveiled.

Still set within the same Grade II townhouse, the cafe has a similar look to the main restaurant - all original oak floorboards in place, but with plenty of modern touches on top.

As for the food itself, the cafe opens for breakfast, kicking things off with house granola, cakes and breakfast brioche buns filled with smoked salmon, pickled shallot and dill. At lunch, it follows the lead set by the restaurant, with Mediterranean-influenced dishes and salads on offer. They'll also have focaccia sandwiches, filled with grilled summer vegetables and basil pesto or jambon de Paris with artichoke and tapenade. For desserts, there will be cakes like a Torta Caprese.

Along with the restaurant, this is going to be very handy for any visit to the museums, maybe even more so for the ability to just pop in for a quick pit-stop. So if you're heading down to Museum Mile, this is well worth keeping in mind.
